The ASUS HYPER M.2 X16 GEN 4 is a PCIe add-on card that holds four M.2 Key M SSDs in 2242, 2260, 2280 and 22110 lengths. It targets builders and workstation users who need high-density NVMe storage on a platform with a PCIe 4.0 x16 or x8 slot. The card uses a server-grade low-loss PCB to maintain signal integrity across all four drives. It does not suit systems lacking a full-length PCIe slot or motherboards without bifurcation support for multiple M.2 devices.
A full-length aluminium heatsink and an integrated blower-style fan cool all four SSDs simultaneously to prevent thermal throttling under sustained workloads. A dedicated M.2 fan power switch lets the user disable the fan for silent operation when drives run within safe temperatures. Each slot has its own access LED for quick status monitoring. The card supports SSDs drawing up to 14 W each, accommodating high-performance next-generation drives without additional power cables.
The card installs into any PCIe 4.0 x16 or x8 slot and is electrically compatible with PCIe 3.0 platforms, though bandwidth reduces to 3.0 speeds on non-4.0 motherboards. Full 256 Gbps aggregate throughput requires an AMD TRX40 or X570 series motherboard with PCIe 4.0 support and CPU-lane bifurcation. On other chipsets the card operates in RAID-on-CPU mode at PCIe 3.0 bandwidth. The 10.63 by 4.80 by .59 inch form factor occupies a single expansion slot and clears standard motherboard components.

Insert the card into a PCIe x16 or x8 slot, secure the bracket screw, mount up to four M.2 drives (2242, 2260, 2280, or 22110) onto the standoffs, then set the onboard fan power switch to ON so the blower actively cools the SSDs.
The integrated blower fan may accumulate dust; clean its intake and exhaust vents periodically with compressed air to maintain airflow over the heatsink and prevent thermal throttling of the installed drives.
The PCIe 4.0 x16 host link caps aggregate throughput at 256 Gbps, so combined sequential transfers from four drives cannot exceed that ceiling even if each SSD is faster individually.
