The HighPoint SSD7540 is a PCIe 4.0 x16 add-in card that provides eight M.2 2280 slots for NVMe solid-state drives. The card supports single-drive, RAID 0, RAID 1 and RAID 1/0 configurations with TRIM pass-through on all modes. It runs on Windows 10, Windows Server 2016 or later, Linux kernel 3.10 or later and macOS 10.13 or later.
PCIe 4.0 x16 host interface
The decisive specification is the PCI-Express 4.0 x16 uplink, which supplies the aggregate bandwidth required to saturate eight Gen 4 NVMe drives simultaneously. Without a full x16 Gen 4 link from the CPU or chipset the card will fall back to Gen 3 speeds and cannot deliver the rated 28,000 MB/s throughput.
