Essential mini PC for light workloads

The ASUS NUC 14 Essential is a barebone mini PC built around the Intel N150 processor with four cores and four threads at 3.60 GHz. It ships without memory or storage, offering one DDR5-4800 SO-DIMM slot supporting up to 16 GB and a single M.2 2280/2242 slot for PCIe 3.0 x4 NVMe or SATA SSDs from 128 GB to 4 TB. The 0.56 L chassis includes VESA mount hardware for space-constrained desks or digital-signage installs.

Sustained load behaviour

The N150 operates at a 6 W TDP with passive cooling inside the compact enclosure, so extended workloads run at the base frequency without thermal throttling. Integrated Intel UHD Graphics with 24 execution units at 1 GHz handles desktop compositing and 4K video decode steadily, but the single memory channel and 6 MB Smart Cache limit throughput for prolonged compute or heavy multi-tab browsing compared to higher-power parts.

Interface and expansion limits

Triple display output is provided through HDMI 2.1, DisplayPort 1.4 and the front USB 3.2 Gen2 Type-C port, each driving up to 4096 x 2160 at 60 Hz. Networking uses a 2.5 GbE Realtek controller plus Intel Wi-Fi 6E AX211 and Bluetooth 5.3. Only one M.2 slot exists, so storage cannot be mirrored or tiered internally, and the single SO-DIMM slot caps memory at 16 GB in single-channel mode.
