Dense 1U dual-socket server

The Dell PowerEdge R640 is a 1U rackmount server built around two Intel Xeon Gold 6130 processors, each with 16 cores at 2.1 GHz. It ships with 256 GB of DDR4 registered ECC memory across eight 32 GB modules and a PERC H730P RAID controller with 2 GB cache. Two 800 GB SATA SSDs are installed in the eight 2.5-inch drive bays, and dual 750 W platinum power supplies provide redundancy.

Suited for dense virtualization

This configuration fits environments that need high core counts and large memory capacity in a single rack unit, such as virtualization clusters, database nodes or high-performance computing fronts. The quad-port network daughter card adds two 1 GbE and two 10 Gb SFP+ links, and iDRAC9 Enterprise enables full remote management. Eight 2.5-inch bays with SATA/SAS RAID

The chassis provides eight hot-swap 2.5-inch bays wired to the PERC H730P controller, which supports RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 plus pass-through mode. With two 800 GB SATA SSDs already installed, six bays remain open for additional SATA or SAS drives, letting you expand capacity or performance without leaving the 1U form factor.
