The jump is worth it when virtualisation density, database threading or container orchestration outgrow the thread count and memory channels of a single socket. Buyers who need more than two sockets or GPU acceleration will look elsewhere.

128GB DDR4 with 3TB headroom

The installed 128GB handles moderate virtualisation clusters, mid-size SQL instances and VDI pilots comfortably. Eight SFF bays fed by the P408 controller support SAS or SATA drives for capacity or speed tiers. Memory scales to 3TB for in-memory analytics, but the chassis lacks PCIe GPU slots, so compute-heavy AI training is not a fit.
