USB 3.1 Gen 2 practical throughput

The USB 3.1 Gen 2 interface is rated at 10Gbps, but the enclosure’s internal bridge limits real-world transfer speed to 5Gbps. UASP support reduces CPU overhead and latency during sustained copies. Performance will vary with the installed drive and the host controller; the 5Gbps ceiling means large sequential transfers will not saturate the full USB 3.1 Gen 2 bandwidth.

6TB drive capacity limit

The enclosure supports 2.5-inch SATA drives up to 6TB, which is the maximum capacity the bridge firmware can address. Drives larger than 6TB are not recognised and will not function in this unit. Buyers planning to use higher-capacity drives must choose a different enclosure.
