This kit adds 16 GB of DDR4 ECC UDIMM memory to compatible Synology RackStation models RS2418+ and RS2418RP+. It is built for NAS administrators who need more capacity for virtual machines, containers or heavy file workloads. The modules run at 2666 MHz with CL19 latency and 1.2 V operation. Buyers using other Synology units or non-ECC platforms cannot use this kit.

Two matched 8 GB modules

The pair delivers 16 GB in a dual-channel configuration, each module rated PC4-21300 at 2666 MHz with CL19 timing. ECC protection corrects single-bit errors to keep data intact on always-on NAS hardware. JEDEC and RoHS compliance means the upgrade is warranty-safe for the supported RackStation models. Backward compatibility lets the modules run at 2133 MHz or 2400 MHz if the system requires it. No heat spreaders are included, so airflow in the chassis must handle cooling.

Tool-free DIMM installation with standard clearance

Installation follows the usual 288-pin UDIMM process: power down, open the chassis, align the notch and press until the latches click. The low-profile design fits the standard memory slots in the RS2418+ and RS2418RP+ without interfering with drive trays or expansion cards. Common issues are forgetting to seat both latches fully or mixing these ECC modules with non-ECC memory, which disables error correction. OWC provides a basic installation video for reference.
