The Dell PowerEdge M640 is a half-height blade server fitted with two Intel Xeon Platinum 8160 processors. Each CPU delivers 24 cores at a base frequency of 2.1 GHz with a 3.7 GHz turbo boost. The system includes 64 GB of DDR4 registered ECC memory across four modules. It targets virtualization clusters, private clouds and high-performance compute workloads.

Sustained throughput with NVMe storage

Two 960 GB U.2 NVMe solid-state drives connect through the integrated PERC S140 controller supporting RAID 0, 1, 5 and 10. The NVMe interface provides low-latency data paths that maintain throughput during extended database or analytics runs. Dual 10 Gb network ports on the 57810S-K daughter card feed the compute cores without bottlenecks. iDRAC9 Enterprise enables remote monitoring and firmware updates without physical access.

Half-height blade form factor

This unit occupies a single half-height slot in a PowerEdge MX or M1000e chassis and requires that enclosure for power, cooling and fabric connectivity. The chassis is not included. Maximum memory capacity reaches 1.5 TB across sixteen DDR4 slots, allowing future expansion beyond the installed 64 GB. No operating system is pre-installed. Buyers without a compatible Dell blade chassis cannot deploy this server.
