The Dell PowerEdge R740 is a 2U rack server equipped with two Intel Xeon Platinum 8160 processors running at 2.1 GHz with 24 cores each. It ships with 256 GB of DDR4 2666 MHz registered ECC memory across eight 32 GB modules. The system targets organisations that need dense, two-socket compute for virtualisation, databases or high-performance workloads.

2.5-inch bay chassis with H730P RAID

The 8-bay 2.5-inch front panel holds two 400 GB SATA SSDs on a Dell PERC H730P 2 GB controller supporting RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60. A quad-port Intel X520/I350 daughter card provides two 1 GbE and two 10 Gb SFP+ connections.
