The Dell PowerEdge R740 chassis holds two Xeon Bronze 3204 processors at 1.9GHz with six cores each and 8.25MB cache. Thirty-two gigabytes of DDR4 ECC registered memory are installed across two 16GB modules. The PERC H730P RAID controller manages up to eight 3.5-inch SATA drive bays. Integrated graphics and a 10GbE 562T dual-port adapter handle display and network connectivity. iDRAC9 Enterprise provides remote management.

Verify rack depth and power infrastructure before

The unit measures 36 by 24 by 10 inches and weighs 40 pounds, so confirm the rack can accommodate the depth and weight. Two 750W power supplies are fitted; ensure the PDU delivers the correct connectors and circuits. No drives are included, so source compatible 3.5-inch SATA media separately. The rail kit is available on request rather than included by default.

Enterprise-grade chassis with tool-less drive access

The 2U rack-mount frame uses a sliding rail design for service access without removing the server. Eight hot-swap bays support tool-less insertion of 3.5-inch SATA drives directly from the front. Redundant 750W supplies slide out from the rear for replacement while the system runs. iDRAC9 Enterprise enables firmware updates, power cycling and console redirection over a dedicated management port, reducing physical visits to the rack.
