Adapter purpose and fit

This adapter lets you install an M-key M.2 NVMe or PCIe-AHCI solid-state drive into a standard PCIe 3.0 x16, x8 or x4 slot. It is designed for desktop builders whose motherboard lacks an M.2 connector but has a free full-length expansion slot. The card requires no driver on supported operating systems.

Thermal pad effect

A thermal pad is included to conduct heat away from the installed SSD toward the bracket and chassis airflow. This helps the drive maintain its rated throughput during sustained writes instead of throttling early. No active cooling or extra mounting hardware is supplied.

Capacity and headroom

The board accepts 2230, 2242, 2260 and 2280 modules and delivers up to 32 Gbps over PCIe 3.0 x4, falling back to 16 Gbps in a 2.0 slot. SATA-based M.2 drives are not supported, and Windows 7 or Server 2008 R2 cannot boot from NVMe on this adapter.
