Adds two internal USB 3.0 headers through a mini PCIe slot using a NEC UPD720202 chipset and SATA power
This expansion card converts a spare Mini PCI Express slot into two internal USB 3.0 ports using a 20-pin motherboard header. It targets embedded or micro systems that need extra high-speed USB connectivity without occupying a full-size PCIe slot. The NEC UPD720202 chipset handles the protocol conversion and supports the USB 3.0 5Gbps transfer rate.
Verify the motherboard has an available Mini PCIe slot and confirm it is not an mSATA-only interface, as the card will not function in that configuration. Ensure the power supply provides a free SATA 15-pin connector to deliver the required 5V power, because the Mini PCIe slot itself does not supply that voltage. A driver CD is included for Windows XP, Vista, 7, 8, 2003 and Linux operating systems.
The card outputs a single 20-pin header, also referred to as 19-pin, which connects to the motherboard's internal USB 3.0 header for two Type-A ports. It draws auxiliary power from the SATA 15-pin cable, leaving the Mini PCIe lane free for data only. Hot-swap capability is supported, and the xHCI 1.0 controller maintains backward compatibility with USB 2.0, 1.1 and 1.0 devices.

The box contains the Mini PCIe to USB 3.0 expansion card and a driver CD. You must supply a SATA 15-pin power cable from your PSU; the card draws power through that connector.
The card outputs a USB 3.0 internal 20-pin header, which is the same physical header sometimes labelled 19-pin on motherboards. It provides two USB 3.0 ports from one Mini PCIe slot.
The NEC UPD720202 chipset delivers up to 5 Gbps theoretical bandwidth per port, backward compatible with USB 2.0 at 480 Mbps and USB 1.1/1.0. Actual throughput depends on the connected device and system load.
