The B140i software RAID controller supports RAID 0, 1 and 5 on SATA media only. Redundant hot-swap power supplies and eight 2.5-inch drive bays provide room for expansion within the same chassis.

This platform works for buyers who want a ready-to-run dual-socket server with software RAID on SATA drives. It is not suited for buyers who need a hardware RAID controller, SAS connectivity, more than two internal drives without adding a controller, or support for memory types other than DDR4. B140i software RAID limited to SATA RAID 0, 1, 5

The storage controller is the deciding specification: it provides software RAID levels 0, 1 and 5 exclusively for SATA drives.
