The iStarUSA S-917 is a tower chassis that accepts a mini-ITX motherboard and provides seven external 5.25-inch bays plus one internal 2.5-inch bay. It targets users who need dense removable-media or hot-swap capacity in a footprint of 7.23 by 12.68 by 18.82 inches.

Straightforward assembly

The case uses standard ATX PS2 power supply mounting and two expansion slots, so most mini-ITX boards and PSUs drop in without adapters. The front door keylock and aluminum bezel add physical security but require the door to be unlatched before any drive cage can slide out.

Steady airflow under continuous operation

A single 120 mm fan draws air through the front panel across the drive bays and exhausts at the rear, keeping temperatures stable during long backup or archiving sessions. The SECC 0.8 mm chassis resists vibration when all seven bays are populated, preventing resonance that can appear in lighter enclosures.
