System-Specific DDR3 ECC RDIMM Kit

This OWC kit provides 16 GB of DDR3 1333 registered ECC memory in a matched pair of 8 GB modules. It is designed for Dell PowerVault NX300 and NX3000 storage servers that require 240-pin DDR3 RDIMMs. The modules operate at 1.5 V with CL9 latency and a 2Rx4 organisation. They are not compatible with standard desktop or consumer laptop platforms.

Compatibility Check Before Ordering

Verify that your target system is a Dell PowerVault NX300 or NX3000 and that it accepts registered ECC DDR3 RDIMMs. Unbuffered or non-ECC modules will not work in these servers and mixing registered with unbuffered memory is unsupported. Confirm the platform has available 240-pin DIMM slots and that the BIOS or firmware supports the full 16 GB capacity across two slots.

Build Quality and Daily Use

Each module uses a standard 240-pin DDR3 PCB without a heat spreader, relying on server chassis airflow for cooling. The registered design adds a buffer that reduces electrical load on the memory controller, improving stability in multi-DIMM configurations. Installation follows the usual DIMM ejection-lever procedure; no special tools or cables are required beyond opening the server chassis.
