Server memory upgrade kit

This OWC kit provides 1 TB of DDR4 ECC load-reduced memory in four 256 GB modules. It is designed for Dell PowerEdge R840 and R940xa servers and workstations that require registered LRDIMM technology. The modules operate at 2933 MHz with CL21 latency and 1.2 V. Standard desktop computers cannot use this memory type.

Build integration requirements

Each module uses a 288-pin LRDIMM form factor and must be installed in matched sets for the target platforms. The kit frees all four slots with a single purchase and cannot be mixed with unbuffered or standard registered DIMMs. Backward compatibility allows operation at 2133, 2400 and 2666 MHz speeds if the system firmware requires it. JEDEC and RoHS compliance ensures a warranty-safe upgrade path.

Thermals and power profile

The 1.2 V DDR4 design keeps power draw low for high-density server configurations. ECC load-reduced architecture reduces electrical loading on the memory bus, which helps maintain signal integrity under sustained workloads. No active cooling is included; airflow through the server chassis handles thermal management. This memory is not intended for consumer desktops or non-ECC platforms.
