The Athena Power BP-TLA3051SAS12 accepts five 3.5" SATA or SAS hard drives in a compact all-aluminum enclosure. It targets administrators who need quick, tool-free drive swaps for backup rotations or archival workloads. Metal keylocks secure each bay against unauthorised removal. An integrated 8 cm fan with high and low speed settings provides active cooling.
Twelve-Gigabit Interface Headroom
Each bay connects through a 7-pin SATA data port fed by a 12Gbps mini-SAS HD interface, so the backplane does not bottleneck modern mechanical drives. Throughput scales with the slowest drive in the array; five high-capacity disks can saturate the link during sustained sequential work. Random I/O workloads with many small files will hit drive latency limits long before the interface ceiling.
SATA/SAS Host Dependency
The unit supplies fifteen-pin SATA power connectors and seven-pin data ports but contains no RAID controller or expander logic. Performance and drive count are bounded by the host HBA or motherboard ports you attach. Systems limited to 6Gbps SATA ports will halve the available bandwidth, and port multipliers are not supported unless the host explicitly provides them.
