The Dell PowerEdge R650 fits two Intel Xeon Silver 4316 processors and 768GB of DDR4 registered ECC memory into a single rack unit. Twenty cores per CPU and a 3.4GHz turbo frequency give dense compute for virtualization, databases and private-cloud nodes. Ten front-accessible 2.5-inch drive bays hold 960GB SATA SSDs managed by a PERC H755 controller with 8GB NV cache. A quad-port 1GbE OCP 3.0 card and iDRAC9 Enterprise complete the out-of-the-box feature set.

Dual 1400W platinum supplies and hot-swap cooling

Redundant 1400-watt platinum-efficiency power supplies share the load and can be swapped without downtime. The 1U chassis uses high-speed system fans that ramp with CPU and memory temperature, keeping both 20-core processors within spec under sustained load. Acoustic output rises with fan speed but remains within typical data-centre limits for a 1U form factor. Power draw scales with workload; the platinum-rated units minimise losses at every load point.

Ready rails and ten-bay storage density

Included sliding rails mount the server in standard four-post racks without tools. The front bezel covers ten 2.5-inch bays, leaving no empty drive slots in this configuration. The PERC H755 supports RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60, freeing the administrator to choose redundancy or capacity per volume. Two OCP 3.0 slots and PCIe Gen4 lanes remain available for additional NICs, HBAs or accelerators. Buyers who need 3.5-inch drives or more than ten bays should consider a 2U platform.
