The Dell PowerEdge R650xs is a 1U rack server fitted with two Intel Xeon Gold 6330 processors, each running at 2.0GHz with 28 cores and a 3.1GHz turbo frequency. It ships with 64GB of DDR4 2933MHz registered ECC memory across four 16GB modules and a PERC H745 RAID controller with 4GB NV cache and battery backup. Eight 2.5-inch SAS/SATA drive trays, a quad-port 1GbE OCP 3.0 network card, iDRAC9 Enterprise and sliding rails complete the package for virtualization, cloud infrastructure or high-performance computing clusters.

Verify rack depth and power feed before ordering

The server occupies a single rack unit and requires rails deep enough for a 1U chassis; confirm your cabinet depth and rail clearance match the unit. Two 1400W platinum power supplies provide full redundancy, so each feed must deliver enough current for a 1400W load at your local voltage. The LGA 4189 socket and DDR4 memory limit upgrades to compatible Xeon Scalable processors and DDR4 DIMMs only; NVMe drives are not supported by the supplied eight SAS/SATA trays or the H745 controller.

Redundant hot-swap 1400W platinum power supplies share the load, so fan speeds remain consistent even if one unit fails. The 1U form factor forces high airflow through a narrow chassis, meaning inlet temperature and aisle containment matter more than in larger servers. Expect noticeable fan noise at full CPU utilisation, typical for dense 1U platforms, while the platinum efficiency rating reduces waste heat and overall power draw compared with lower-rated units.
