Dual 16-core Xeon server for enterprise workloads

The PowerEdge R730 is a 2U rack server built around two Intel Xeon E5-2683 v4 processors running at 2.1 GHz with 16 cores each. It targets midsize and large organisations running data warehouses, e-commerce platforms, virtual desktop infrastructure, databases or high-performance computing nodes. The system ships with 128 GB of DDR4 registered ECC memory across eight modules.

24 DIMM slots and eight 2.5-inch bays with PERC

The chassis provides 24 memory slots supporting up to 1.5 TB of DDR4, leaving 16 slots free for future expansion. Storage connects through a Dell PERC H730 1 GB controller offering RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 plus pass-through. Two hot-swap 750 W platinum power supplies and iDRAC 8 Enterprise remote management are included, alongside ready rails and a front bezel.

400 GB SSD boot tier with headroom to 1.5 TB RAM

Two 400 GB SATA SSDs deliver fast boot and application throughput for the installed workloads. Memory capacity scales to 1.5 TB when all 24 slots are populated, giving ample headroom for large virtualisation clusters or in-memory databases. The eight-bay 2.5-inch backplane limits internal drive count, so storage-heavy deployments will need external arrays or a different chassis.
