Dual-socket 2U server for virtualisation

The Dell PowerEdge R730 fits in a standard 2U rack space and ships with two Intel Xeon E5-2699 v4 processors, each running 22 cores at 2.2 GHz with a 3.6 GHz turbo frequency. 512 GB of DDR4 2400 MHz registered ECC memory is installed across 16 slots, leaving eight additional slots open for expansion up to 1.5 TB. The PERC H730 controller with 1 GB cache manages eight 1.2 TB 10K SAS drives in the front 2.5-inch bays.

Redundant platinum power supplies

Dual 750 W platinum-efficiency hot-swap power supplies provide N+1 redundancy while the system runs typical virtualised workloads. The iDRAC 8 Enterprise module delivers out-of-band remote access for power control, console redirection and hardware health monitoring without loading the host OS. A quad-port Intel X520/I350 daughter card adds two 1 GbE and two 10 Gb SFP+ links on a single low-profile bracket.

Rails and bezel included for immediate rack mounting

ReadyRails sliding rails and the front bezel are supplied in the box so the chassis can be secured in a four-post rack without extra parts. The storage controller battery backs the write cache to protect array integrity during unexpected power loss. No solid-state drives are installed; the eight bays are populated exclusively with the 1.2 TB SAS hard drives listed above.
