Dual Xeon 22-core server for dense workloads

The PowerEdge R730 fits two Intel Xeon E5-2699 v4 processors running at 2.2 GHz with a 3.6 GHz turbo frequency. Each CPU provides 22 cores for a total of 44 cores across the system. The platform targets midsize and large enterprises running data warehouses, e-commerce, VDI, databases and HPC data nodes.

2U rack chassis with 24 DDR4 slots

The 2U form factor uses an Intel C610 chipset and LGA 2011-3 sockets. Memory capacity reaches 512 GB today through 16 modules of 32 GB DDR4 2400 MHz registered ECC, leaving eight of the 24 slots open for expansion up to 1.5 TB. Eight 2.5-inch SAS/SATA trays accept hard drives or SSDs, and the PERC H730 controller with 1 GB cache manages RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60.

Quad-port networking and remote management included

A Dell Intel X520/I350 daughter card adds two 1 GbE and two 10 Gb SFP+ connections for flexible uplink choices. iDRAC 8 Enterprise provides out-of-band control and monitoring without consuming a PCIe slot. Dual 750 W platinum power supplies deliver hot-swap redundancy, while ready rails and a front bezel simplify rack installation.
