The PowerEdge R730xd is a 2U rack server built for midsize and large enterprise workloads. It ships with two Intel Xeon E5-2620 v3 processors running at 2.4 GHz with a 3.2 GHz turbo frequency. Each CPU provides six cores for a total of twelve cores. The system targets virtual desktop infrastructure, databases, data warehouses and high-performance computing data nodes.

256 GB DDR4 with 1.5 TB ceiling

Memory is populated with eight 32 GB DDR4 2133 MHz registered ECC modules for 256 GB total capacity. Twenty-four DIMM slots are available and the platform supports up to 1.5 TB when fully populated. The PERC H730 controller with 1 GB cache manages twenty-four 300 GB 10K SAS drives in a 2.5 inch form factor. Storage headroom ends when all twenty-four bays are occupied.

Quad-port 1/10 GbE card and iDRAC8 Enterprise

A Dell Intel X520/I350 daughter card adds two 1 GbE ports and two 10 Gb SFP+ ports for flexible network connectivity. iDRAC 8 Enterprise provides full remote management including virtual console and power control.
