The Dell PowerEdge R740 fits a 2U rack space and ships with a single Intel Gold 6148 processor running at 2.4 GHz with 20 cores and 27.5 MB cache. It delivers 128 GB of DDR4 memory across eight 16 GB modules rated at PC4-2666. Four 7.68 TB SAS SSDs provide high-capacity flash storage managed by an H730P RAID controller.

Build integration with PCIe Gen 3 expansion

Up to eight PCIe Gen 3 slots accommodate additional controllers, accelerators or networking cards. The integrated Intel X550 network daughter card supplies two 10 Gb RJ45 ports and two 1 Gb RJ45 ports for flexible connectivity. An 1100 W redundant power supply and sliding rails are included, while the eight 2.5-inch drive bays leave four bays free for future storage growth.

Sustained operation with enterprise remote

iDRAC9 Enterprise enables out-of-band monitoring, firmware updates and power control without interrupting the host operating system. Redundant power supplies maintain uptime during a module failure or hot-swap event. The H730P controller supports background RAID reconstruction and consistency checks while the array remains online. No optical drive is fitted, reducing a potential failure point in continuous-duty environments.
