The Dell PowerEdge R740 is a 2U rack server equipped with two Intel Silver 4210R processors, each delivering 10 cores at 2.4 GHz. It ships with 64 GB of DDR4 memory arranged as four 16 GB modules running at 2666 MT/s. The platform targets virtualisation hosts, database nodes and general-purpose workloads that need balanced core count and memory capacity in a dense chassis.

Redundant 1100 W power and iDRAC9 management

Dual 1100 W power supplies provide N+1 redundancy while the system runs typical mixed workloads. The Intel X550 network daughter card adds two 10 Gb RJ45 ports and two 1 Gb RJ45 ports for flexible connectivity. Remote administration is handled by iDRAC9 Enterprise, allowing out-of-band monitoring, firmware updates and console access without attaching a local keyboard or display.

H730P RAID with six 960 GB SAS SSDs

The integrated H730P controller manages six 960 GB SAS solid-state drives in a hardware RAID configuration, delivering consistent low-latency storage for virtual machines or transactional databases.
