The Dell PowerEdge R750 is a 2U rack server equipped with twelve 3.5-inch drive bays and dual Intel Xeon Silver 4316 processors. Each CPU runs at 2.3 GHz with a 3.4 GHz turbo frequency and provides twenty cores. The system ships with 128 GB of DDR4 2666 MHz registered ECC memory across eight modules. It targets organisations that need dense internal storage and strong multi-threaded compute in a standard rack footprint.

Upgrade from single-socket or smaller-bay platforms

Moving from a single-processor server or a chassis with fewer than twelve 3.5-inch bays adds a second Xeon Silver 4316 and doubles the installed core count to forty. The jump is worthwhile when workloads such as database instances, virtualisation hosts or analytics jobs demand more parallel threads and larger local data sets than a single socket can deliver. The HBA355i controller provides SAS 12 Gb/s pass-through connectivity for the drive bays without on-board RAID processing.

128 GB DDR4 with 2 TB ceiling

The 128 GB configuration handles typical virtualisation clusters, mid-size databases and file-serving workloads with comfortable headroom. Memory can be expanded to 2 TB using the thirty-two DDR4 DIMM slots when applications outgrow the factory capacity.
