SAS 12Gb/s drive interface limits

The server uses a SAS 12 Gb/s interface for its 24 installed 2.5-inch hard drives. This interface caps the maximum theoretical throughput of each drive to 12 Gb/s. The PERC H755 controller supports RAID levels 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50, and 60 across these drives. The 10K rotational speed of the installed drives determines their random I/O performance ceiling. Buyers needing NVMe speeds or SATA-only cabling cannot use this drive set without hardware changes.

Two-socket maximum processor count

The R750 chassis supports a maximum of two processors and both sockets are already occupied by the Xeon Gold 6330 CPUs. No further CPU upgrades are possible within this unit. The 32 DDR4 DIMM slots allow memory expansion beyond the installed 64 GB using registered ECC modules. Buyers who require more than two sockets or a higher core count per socket must choose a different platform.
