Enterprise 2U rack server

The Dell PowerEdge R760 is a 2U rack server built for virtualization, AI, databases and cloud workloads. It ships with two Intel Xeon Gold 5415+ processors running at 2.9 GHz with a 4.1 GHz turbo frequency. Each CPU provides eight cores, giving sixteen cores total. The system includes 32 GB of DDR5-4800 ECC registered memory across thirty-two DIMM slots with a maximum capacity of 8 TB.

Hot-swap bays and redundant power

Sixteen 2.5-inch hot-swap drive bays support SAS, SATA, SSD and NVMe media for flexible storage configurations. The Dell PERC H965i controller with 8 GB NV cache enables RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60. Four 960 GB SATA 6 Gb/s enterprise SSDs are installed. A Broadcom 5720 quad-port 1 GbE OCP 3.0 network adapter handles connectivity. Dual 1400 W platinum hot-swap power supplies provide redundancy. iDRAC 9 Datacenter delivers remote management with Lifecycle Controller. Ready Rails and a front bezel are included.

Verify rack depth and memory plan

Confirm your rack can accommodate a 2U chassis with the required depth for cable management and airflow. Ensure the power infrastructure can deliver two independent feeds for the redundant 1400 W supplies. Plan memory expansion using DDR5-4800 ECC registered DIMMs only; other DDR generations are physically and electrically incompatible. Check that your hypervisor or operating system supports the PERC H965i RAID feature set and the OCP 3.0 network adapter.
