Precision T7910 workstation with 14-core Xeon

The Dell Precision T7910 is a tower workstation built around a single Intel Xeon E5-2660 v4 processor with fourteen cores at 2 GHz and hyperthreading. It ships with 8 GB of DDR4 ECC memory and a new 1 TB 6 Gb/s SATA solid-state drive. The Nvidia NVS 310 graphics card provides dual DisplayPort outputs for multi-monitor setups. No operating system is included.

SATA storage ceiling and graphics limits

The integrated LSI SAS 3008 controller handles 12 Gb/s SAS and 6 Gb/s SATA with software RAID 0, 1 and 10 across up to eight drives, while two Intel SATA ports serve optical drives. M.2 PCIe SSD support requires an optional PCIe controller and RAID 5 also needs that extra card. The NVS 310 carries only 512 MB of video memory and is intended for 2D productivity rather than 3D rendering or compute workloads.

1300 W power supply and expansion capacity

A 1300 W 90 % efficient power supply with active power factor correction feeds the chassis, which weighs 50 lbs and measures 21.5 by 8.5 by 17.2 inches. Sixteen DIMM slots allow up to 1 TB of quad-channel DDR4 ECC memory when a second processor is added. Drive bays accept up to four M.2 PCIe SSDs plus four 3.5-inch or eight 2.5-inch SATA or SAS drives. Builders needing more than one GPU or higher 3D performance should look elsewhere.
