What this motherboard delivers

The Gigabyte Z490 AORUS ELITE is an ATX board built for Intel socket 1200 processors. It supports DDR4 memory up to 128 GB across four slots and provides three M.2 sockets for fast storage. A single PCI Express 4.0 x16 slot handles a modern graphics card while one legacy PCI slot remains for older add-in cards. The rear I/O includes one USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type-A port, one additional USB 3.1 port and a single RJ45 network jack.

Thermals noise and power draw

The board uses a direct-touch heatpipe design across the VRM and chipset zones to move heat away from the power phases. Multiple hybrid fan headers let the system curve fans based on CPU or VRM temperature so airflow stays proportional to load. In typical desktop workloads the VRM runs within its rated thermal envelope without requiring aggressive fan speeds, keeping acoustic output low. Behaviour under sustained load

During extended all-core workloads the 12+1 phase digital VRM maintains stable voltage delivery without throttling the attached processor. The enlarged heatsink mass absorbs transient spikes while the heatpipe spreads energy to the larger fin area, allowing the fan curve to remain conservative. M.2 thermal guards prevent drive throttling when large sequential transfers run for minutes at a time. The single x16 slot retains full PCIe 4.0 signalling integrity throughout the session.
