Dual-port 10GbE adapter

The Intel X550-T2 adds two RJ45 ports that autonegotiate between 1GbE, 2.5GbE, 5GbE and 10GbE. It targets servers and workstations that need copper 10GbE without replacing existing CAT6 or CAT6A runs. The card plugs into a PCIe 3.0 x8 slot and presents a standard Ethernet interface to the operating system. No optical transceivers or proprietary cabling are required.

A single PCIe 3.0 lane group at 8.0 GT/s supplies the bandwidth both ports need at line rate. CAT6 cabling reaches 55 metres at 10GbE while CAT6A extends that to 100 metres, supporting ToR, MoR and EoR topologies. The adapter frees upstream switch ports by consolidating two 10GbE links into one add-in card. It works with existing copper patch panels and structured wiring plants.

Low-profile thermal design
