The iStarUSA S-35-B5BK is a black aluminium-and-steel tower chassis designed for Mini-ITX motherboards. It targets builders who need dense 3.5-inch drive storage in a small footprint, such as home NAS or backup servers. The case includes five hot-swap bays and a single internal 2.5-inch mount.

Five hot-swap bays limited to 6.0 Gb/s SATA/SAS

Each front bay accepts a 3.5-inch drive and connects through a backplane that supports 6.0 Gb/s SATA and SAS interfaces. The single expansion slot and two front USB 2.0 ports restrict add-in cards and high-speed peripherals. One 120 mm fan provides the only active cooling included.

Five 3.5-inch drives plus one 2.5-inch SSD

The chassis comfortably holds five full-size hard drives for multi-terabyte arrays while the internal 2.5-inch bay adds room for an OS SSD. Builds requiring more than five 3.5-inch drives, additional expansion cards, or redundant cooling will exceed the available bays, slots and fan mounts.
