Tool-free SATA enclosure for 2230-2280 drives

This blue Orico enclosure accepts a single M.2 SATA SSD in 2230, 2242, 2260 or 2280 form factors with B-key or B+M-key pin-outs. The aluminium and plastic shell measures 124 by 35 by 14 mm and weighs .1 kg. It connects through a USB-C port and is powered entirely from the host device. The package includes a USB-A to USB-C cable for broad compatibility.

Push-cover tray and LED status remove tools

The integrated slide cover opens without screws so the drive can be swapped in seconds. An LED shows solid light in standby and flashes during data transfer. After ten minutes of inactivity the controller enters sleep mode to save power. UASP, TRIM and SMART pass-through are supported on the SATA link, and the supplied cable is rated for 10 Gbps signalling.

Verify the SSD is SATA, not PCIe or NVMe.

This enclosure only works with M.2 SATA drives; PCIe AHCI and NVMe modules will not function even if they share the same keying. Maximum supported capacity is 4 TB per bay. The host must provide a USB-C or USB-A port capable of supplying bus power; no external power adapter is included. Builders needing NVMe support or multiple simultaneous drives should look elsewhere.
