Enterprise U.2 SSD for data centres

The Solidigm D7-P5520 is a 1.92TB U.2 15mm drive built on 144L TLC 3D NAND with a PCI-Express 4.0 interface. It delivers up to 5300 MBps sequential read and 1900 MBps sequential write alongside 700000 IOPS random read and 114000 IOPS random write. Endurance is rated at 3.5 PBW with a 2,000,000-hour MTBF. Opal security and 5W idle / 13W active power complete the package for server and storage arrays.

Suits read-intensive workloads.

This drive fits read-heavy applications such as content delivery, analytics and boot volumes where its high random-read IOPS and 3.5 PBW endurance match the profile. It is not for workloads that demand sustained high sequential write throughput or substantially higher write endurance. The U.2 15mm form factor also requires a compatible 2.5-inch bay with appropriate backplane support.

PCIe 4.0 x4 interface decides compatibility

The single specification that determines fit is the PCI-Express 4.0 x4 interface. The system must provide a U.2 port wired for PCIe 4.0 to achieve the stated 5300 MBps read and 1900 MBps write performance. Without that link the drive will negotiate a slower speed and the published figures will not be reached.
