The Tripp Lite B093-004-2E4U is a 4-port console server designed for administrators who need secure, out-of-band access to serial-based networking equipment. It provides a single gateway to remotely monitor and control routers, UPS systems and similar devices from any location. The unit is validated to meet FIPS 140-2 standards for protection of private data. Its rack-mountable or desktop form factor suits network closets and data centres.

Dual Ethernet Resilience and Port Density

Dual Gigabit Ethernet ports provide a primary network connection with automatic failover to maintain continuous remote access. Four serial ports and four USB ports allow simultaneous management of multiple target devices without external hubs. The package includes a DB9F to RJ45 crossover serial adapter and international plug adapters for worldwide deployment. An external 12 V power supply with a four-foot cord supports 100-240 V AC input at 50/60 Hz.

Serial Console Constraints

Management is limited to equipment with serial interfaces, so the unit cannot directly control devices that lack a console port. Bandwidth for each session is constrained by the serial link speed rather than the Gigabit uplink. The four-port capacity fixes the maximum number of concurrently managed devices at four. Firmware updates and configuration changes still require network connectivity to the console server itself.
