Dual 10 GbE RJ45 adapter for servers

The Alphacool Intel X540-T2 adds two 10 GbE copper ports to a server or workstation through a PCIe x8 slot. It targets administrators who need 10 GbE over existing Cat 6a cabling up to 100 m or Cat 6 up to 55 m. The card includes both low-profile and full-height brackets for flexible chassis fit.

PCIe 2.1 x8 interface and copper reach

The adapter uses a PCIe 2.1 link at 5.0 GT/s with x8 electrical width, also compatible with x16 slots. On the wire side the on-chip PHY negotiates 10 GbE, 1 GbE or 100 Mb/s over twisted pair. Jumbo frames up to 15.5 KB are supported, as are 802.1Q VLANs and Data Center Bridging. The card operates from 0 °C to 55 °C and does not support hot-swap insertion.

Two ports for iSCSI, FCoE or NFS storage

Dual ports give redundancy or link aggregation for storage traffic such as iSCSI, FCoE or NFS. A single 10 GbE lane saturates near 10 Gb/s, so sustained sequential workloads will hit the wire-rate ceiling. Workloads needing more than two 10 GbE links or fibre media require additional adapters.
