The ASRock Rack E3C232D4U is a micro-ATX server board that accepts one Intel Xeon E3-1200 v5 or v6 processor in an LGA 1151 socket. It is built for compact rack or tower systems that need integrated remote management and dual gigabit networking. The board ships with an I/O shield and no other accessories.

DDR4 tops out at 2400 MT/s

Memory runs at 1600, 1866, 2133 or 2400 MT/s, though 2400 MT/s requires a v6 CPU. Only ECC UDIMMs are supported, each slot taking up to 16 GB for a total of 64 GB in dual-channel mode. Voltage is fixed at 1.2 V, so non-ECC or higher-voltage modules will not work.

One PCIe 3.0 x16 slot that drops to x8 when the x8

The primary expansion slot is a PCIe 3.0 x16 connector that automatically halves to x8 if the adjacent x8 slot is populated. An x4 slot shares bandwidth with the single M.2 connector, and an x1 slot rounds out the layout. Builders needing two full-speed x16 devices cannot use this board.
