12 TB Near-Line SAS Drive
This 12 TB internal hard drive uses a Near-Line SAS interface running at 12 Gb/s. It spins at 7.2K RPM and uses a 512e disk format. The 3.5 inch form factor fits standard drive bays in compatible Dell PowerEdge servers. It is designed to increase storage capacity in supported systems.
512e Format and OS Support Limits
The 512e format is only supported on Windows Server 2008 R2 or greater and on some Linux distributions. VMware does not support 512e or 4Kn hard drives. 4Kn drives are only supported on Windows Server 2012 with UEFI boot and some Linux. Buyers running older operating systems or VMware hypervisors cannot use this drive reliably.
