Dell 400-BCML 1.92 TB SAS SSD
The Dell 400-BCML is a new 1.92 TB enterprise solid-state drive built for Dell PowerEdge servers and the PowerVault MD1420 storage system. It uses a 2.5 inch hot-plug form factor with a SAS 12Gb/s interface and 512e sector formatting. Mixed-use endurance of 1 DWPD and 10512 TBW suits workloads that balance reads and writes.
SAS 12Gb/s interface limits
The drive operates on a 12Gb/s SAS link, so throughput cannot exceed that bus speed regardless of the SSD's internal performance. A backplane or controller limited to 6Gb/s will halve the available bandwidth. Hot-plug capability requires a compatible drive bay and controller support; older enclosures without SAS 12Gb/s ports will restrict the drive to lower speeds.
1 DWPD mixed-use endurance
At 1 drive write per day the 1.92 TB drive is rated for 10512 TBW, making it appropriate for mixed read and write workloads such as databases or virtualization. Write-heavy applications that exceed this endurance level will wear the drive faster than rated. Buyers who need higher write endurance should select a drive with a greater DWPD rating.

Vragen over dit artikel
Should I choose the 1.92 TB model or a different capacity for mixed-use workloads?
The 1.92 TB capacity provides 10512 TBW endurance at 1 DWPD, suitable for mixed-use applications on supported servers.
What does the 12Gb/s SAS rating mean for real-world throughput in a server?
The 12Gb/s SAS interface delivers up to 12Gbps data transfer speed when installed in a compatible Dell PowerEdge or PowerVault system.
Will the SAS 12Gb/s interface work with my existing 6Gb/s backplane?
The drive uses a SAS 12Gb/s interface and is hot-pluggable in 2.5" bays; it will negotiate link speed with the backplane.
