The Dell GKGNX is an 8TB 3.5" nearline SAS hard drive spinning at 7200 RPM with a 12Gb/s transfer rate. It is built for servers and storage arrays that need high-capacity bulk storage on a SAS backbone.
Bare drive packaging with hot-swap tray
The unit ships as a bare drive with a hot-swap tray included, so it can be inserted into compatible drive bays without cables or tools. No mounting screws, software utilities or documentation are supplied in the package.
Tool-less bay installation
The hot-swap tray allows tool-less insertion into supported Dell PowerEdge or PowerVault chassis. Installation fails when the backplane or RAID controller does not negotiate the 12Gb/s link, leaving the drive invisible to the system.
