The Dell Latitude E7270 is a 12.5 inch HD notebook built around an Intel Core i5-6200U dual-core processor with a base frequency of 2.30 GHz and a turbo frequency of 2.80 GHz. It ships with 8GB of DDR4 memory across two slots, supporting up to 16 GB total, and a new 500GB M.2 NVMe PCIe SSD. Windows 10 Pro 64-bit comes pre-installed.

Sustained workload behaviour

The U-series processor targets a low thermal envelope, so clock speeds will settle below the 2.80 GHz turbo during extended multi-threaded tasks. Integrated Intel HD Graphics 520 handles desktop compositing and video playback without a discrete GPU, but frame rates drop quickly in 3D workloads lasting more than a few minutes. The single M.2 drive maintains sequential throughput until thermal throttling engages on the controller.

Interface and storage limits

The M.2 slot uses a PCIe NVMe interface, so the 500GB drive is bound by the lane count and generation the chipset provides; peak bandwidth is therefore lower than desktop platforms with more lanes. Memory expansion stops at 16 GB across the two DDR4 slots, limiting virtual-machine counts or large dataset work. The 1366 x 768 panel caps external display scaling unless a higher-resolution monitor is connected.
