The OptiPlex 7010 DT ships with a Core i5-3470 running at 3.2 GHz, 8 GB of DDR3 memory and a 2 TB hard drive. Windows 10 Pro 64-bit is pre-installed. Integrated Intel HD Graphics 2000 drives up to two DisplayPort outputs and a VGA port. The 275 W power supply supports the factory configuration.

Upgrade path from older Core 2

The move to a quad-core Ivy Bridge processor with 1600 MHz DDR3 gives a clear step up in multi-threaded responsiveness for general business applications. The 2 TB hard drive replaces smaller mechanical drives without requiring a fresh operating-system install. If the workload shifts to sustained GPU compute or modern 3D rendering, the integrated graphics and half-height expansion slots become the limiting factor.

Fits a standard tower footprint

Four DIMM slots support up to 16 GB of non-ECC DDR3 in dual-channel mode. One internal 3.5-inch bay and one external 5.25-inch bay are available for additional storage or optical media. Expansion includes a half-height PCIe x16 slot, a second x16 slot wired x4, a half-height PCIe x1 slot and a legacy PCI slot. Front and rear USB 3.0 ports plus six USB 2.0 ports cover current peripherals. Gigabit Ethernet, serial, PS/2 and analogue audio round out the rear I/O.
