The Dell PowerEdge R440 is a 1U rackmount server built for business, virtualization, cloud, and storage workloads. It fits dense rack environments while delivering enterprise-class processing power for growing IT infrastructure.

The chassis slides into a standard rack using Dell Ready Rails, which are not included in this shipment. The front bezel is also absent, so buyers must source both items before deployment. Internal cabling follows Dell conventions, but the missing rails are the most common oversight.

12 Gb/s SAS/SATA controller caps drive throughput

The PERC H730P storage controller operates at 12 Gb/s across SAS and SATA channels and supports RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50, 60 and pass-through. Four 3.5-inch drive bays limit raw capacity to the installed 4 TB enterprise hard drives, and the controller’s 2 GB cache bounds write-acceleration headroom.
