The Dell PowerEdge R640 is a dual-socket rack server built for dense scale-out data centre computing. Two Intel Xeon Silver 4110 processors each deliver eight cores at 2.1 GHz with a 3.0 GHz turbo frequency. The 1U chassis fits standard racks and includes redundant hot-swap power supplies, ready rails and a front bezel.

768 GB DDR4 with 3 TB headroom

The system ships with 768 GB of DDR4 2400 MHz registered ECC memory populated across all 24 DIMM slots using 32 GB modules. The Intel C620 chipset supports a maximum capacity of 3 TB, so further expansion requires replacing existing modules rather than adding to free slots.

PERC H730P SAS/SATA storage controller

Storage is managed by a Dell PERC H730P controller with 2 GB cache and battery backup, supporting RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 plus pass-through mode.
