The PowerEdge R640 fits two Xeon Silver 4110 processors and 768GB of DDR4 ECC memory into a single rack unit. It targets dense data-centre workloads that need high core count and large memory capacity in minimal space.

Hot-swap power, eight 2.5-inch bays

Redundant 750W platinum supplies and front-access drive bays let you swap components without downtime. The H730P controller supports RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 with a 2GB cache battery. Two 800GB SATA SSDs are installed.

Check rack depth, network cabling

The system uses LGA 3647 sockets and the C620 chipset with 24 DDR4 slots populated by 32GB modules. Quad-port networking provides two 1GbE and two 10Gb SFP+ connections. iDRAC 9 Enterprise is licensed for remote management.
