Compact 1U rack server for dense compute

The Dell PowerEdge R650xs is a 1U rack server built for data-centre workloads that demand high core counts in minimal space. It ships with two Intel Xeon Gold 6338 processors, each delivering 32 cores at 2.0 GHz with 3.2 GHz turbo, providing 64 total cores for virtualization, cloud infrastructure and dense analytics. The platform uses LGA 4189 sockets and supports a maximum of two processors.

Dual-CPU platform with flexible storage bays

The chassis holds ten 2.5-inch drive bays populated with 1.8 TB SAS hard drives connected to a PERC H745 RAID controller that supports RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 with 4 GB NV cache. Four DDR4 DIMM slots are occupied by 64 GB of 3200 MHz registered ECC memory, leaving headroom up to the 1 TB maximum. Redundant 1400 W platinum power supplies and an OCP 3.0 quad-port 1 GbE network card are included, alongside iDRAC9 Enterprise remote management and ready rails.

64 GB DDR4 and 18 TB raw SAS capacity

The installed 64 GB of DDR4 3200 MHz ECC memory handles moderate virtualization and database workloads, with capacity to scale to 1 TB for memory-intensive applications. Ten 1.8 TB 10K SAS drives deliver 18 TB of raw storage suited to mixed read-write workloads, though all-flash arrays would be required for latency-critical tiers. The single 1U height limits further internal expansion, so workloads needing additional GPU acceleration or NVMe density would require external enclosures or a larger chassis.
