The PowerEdge R730 is a 2U rack server equipped with two Intel Xeon E5-2660 v3 processors running at 2.6 GHz with 3.3 GHz turbo. Each CPU provides 10 cores for a total of 20 threads. The system ships with 64 GB of DDR4 2133 MHz registered ECC memory across 24 slots, supporting up to 1.5 TB. It targets midsize and large enterprises running data warehouses, VDI, databases and high-performance computing workloads.

Verify rack space power

Confirm your rack can accommodate a 2U chassis and that you have rails compatible with the included Ready Rails kit. The unit requires two hot-swap 750 W platinum power supplies connected to redundant circuits. Network connectivity uses a quad-port daughter card with two 1 GbE and two 10 Gb SFP+ ports, so ensure your switch has matching SFP+ transceivers and cabling. The PERC H730 controller manages SAS and SATA drives with 1 GB cache and battery backup.

Eight-bay SAS storage and remote management included

Eight 2.5-inch drive bays come populated with 600 GB 10K SAS drives connected to the H730 controller supporting RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60. The iDRAC 8 Enterprise module provides out-of-band remote management over a dedicated network port. Memory expansion uses the remaining 20 DDR4 slots for registered ECC modules. The front bezel is included for physical security and airflow management in the rack.
