Dual Xeon server for memory-intensive workloads

The PowerEdge R730 ships with two Xeon E5-2699 v4 processors running at 2.2 GHz, each providing 22 cores and 55 MB of cache. With 512 GB of DDR4 ECC registered memory installed and a maximum capacity of 768 GB, the platform suits virtualisation hosts, in-memory databases and compute clusters that demand high core counts and large memory footprints. No drives are included, so storage can be tailored to the application.

Eight 3.5-inch bays with PERC H730 RAID

The 8-bay large-form-factor chassis accepts SATA drives connected to the integrated PERC H730 SAS controller, which supports hardware RAID levels for redundancy or performance. Networking is handled by an Intel I350/X540 card delivering two 10 GbE and two 1 GbE ports, while iDRAC8 Enterprise provides dedicated out-of-band management for remote firmware updates, console access and health monitoring. Dual 495 W power supplies offer redundancy for continuous operation.

Redundant cooling and power in a 2U rack form

The 2U rack-mount enclosure uses redundant fans and dual 495 W supplies to maintain stable thermals under sustained multi-core load. Firmware and BIOS are updated to the latest stable release before shipment, and each unit undergoes a full burn-in test to verify thermal behaviour and component reliability. The system weighs 40 lb and measures 36 x 24 x 10 in, fitting standard four-post racks with optional rail kits.
