Dense 2U storage server

The Dell PowerEdge R730XD packs up to 24 hot-plug 2.5-inch drive bays into a two-rack-unit chassis. A single Xeon E5-2630v3 eight-core processor at 2.4 GHz and 16 GB of DDR4 memory handle compute, while the Perc H730 RAID controller manages RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 across three installed 1 TB 7.2 K SATA drives.

Redundant power and flexible I/O

Two 750 W hot-swap power supplies keep the system running if one unit fails. The front bays accept both SAS and SATA drives, and six PCIe 3.0 slots plus a dedicated RAID slot provide room for additional network or accelerator cards. A four-port 1 GbE daughter card is fitted, with optional 10 GbE NDC upgrades available.

Ready for expansion

iDRAC8 with Lifecycle Controller gives remote console, power control and firmware update from any browser. The 24 DIMM slots support up to 1536 GB of DDR4 when a second processor is added, and drive trays are included for every installed disk. Buyers who need an operating system pre-loaded or more than three drives out of the box will have to add those separately.
