The Dell PowerEdge R730xd is a 2U rack server built for midsize and large enterprise environments. Dual Intel Xeon E5-2683 v3 processors deliver 28 cores at 2.0GHz with 3.0GHz turbo. It targets data warehouses, e-commerce platforms, virtual desktop infrastructure and high-performance computing data nodes.

12-bay 3.5-inch drive capacity

The chassis provides twelve 3.5-inch bays populated with 6TB SATA hard drives spinning at 7.2K RPM. A PERC H730 controller with 1GB cache supports RAID 0, 1, 5, 6, 10, 50 and 60 plus pass-through mode. This bay count and controller combination decides whether the server fits a given storage layout.

128GB DDR4 with room to grow

Installed memory stands at 128GB across eight 16GB registered ECC DDR4 modules running at 2133MHz. Twenty-four DIMM slots allow expansion up to 1.5TB for larger datasets or denser virtualization.
